Connecting to the Dreaming World:

A workshop on the creative thinking framework

To be creative is to do something one has not done before. However, when there is an expectation to be creative ‘on call’, it can elevate stress levels and lead to frustration and anxiety. To seek inspiration, one seeks new experiences, some of which could result in risky behaviour and substance abuse.

In this workshop, we will connect to the ‘dreaming world’ and see how everyday experiences hold worlds within themselves. This way the everyday experiences become an endless source of inspiration.

We will also develop skills and learn new techniques that will help us venture beyond the bounds of preconceived notions and known identities, to explore unknown dimensions. This enhanced awareness can be a source of inspiration and a useful tool for creativity.

This workshop is based on exploring and understanding reality as we know it through the lens of Process Oriented Psychology. Through demonstration, experience, and theory, we will learn to use the body and dreams as the gateways to the wider world of process work.

We will use self-awareness techniques to work with one’s own difficult states, moods, biases, and emotions; learn to follow feedback, both verbal and non-verbal, from others.

Learning Outcomes:

·  The participants will recognise, appreciate, and explore aspects of experience. They will learn to value cues that are subtle and ineffable

·   The participants will learn how to engage with one’s lesser known or ambiguous or marginalized experiences and make the knowledge and information available as a resource

·  The participants will learn to use self-awareness techniques to work with one’s own difficult states, moods, biases, and emotions

Client Experiences:

I was always told that day dreaming was a waste of time.
It is such a relief to know that everyone does it, and that I can actually make it a useful habit to support my work.

As a designer, I have learned to pay more attention to my feelings and use them to guide me in my creative work, because I have learned that ignoring them is foolish, especially when following them is such useful feedback.

By learning about signals, and subtle body reactions, I can direct actors better.
I can also gauge client reactions better.

I never imagined that paying attention to a shadow or following the path of an ant, could be used as a creative tool! There is no dearth of inspiration around me once I know how to look for it, and what to do when I find it.

Paying attention to irritating qualities in others inspires me today. It sounds unbelievable; but it turned out to be true. I had to befriend all that I wanted to ignore or get away from.

Reality and logic are what makes sense. Reality within reality, dreaming within reality? Different realities? This workshop has been an eye-opener for me.
